Installation of a Temporary Construction Camp
The Construction Camp Application Form is used to request the allocation of a parcel of Category I Land for the purpose of establishing a temporary construction camp.A temporary construction camp is a temporary facility established to accommodate workers and support operations during the construction phase of a project. It typically includes housing, dining and basic amenities for workers. These camps are intended for short-term use for a specific project and must be dismantled once the construction project is completed.
Please note that temporary construction camps will not be permitted to become permanent once the project is completed. If you wish to establish a permanent camp on Category I land, you must submit a construction application as outlined in the first section. All temporary camps must be removed upon project completion. If you intend to use the same camp for another project in the same community, a new application must be submitted.
Any permanent housing facility (construction camp, transit, etc.) is classified as a construction project and must follow the procedure set out in that section.
How to Request a Lot for a Temporary Construction Camp
-
Application
The promoter must complete the Construction Camp Application Form and submit it to the concerned LHC along with all required documentation at least 60 days prior to the installation of the camp in the community. Please note that incomplete applications or missing information may delay the review process.
The fee to submit an application is established at $300.00 and can be paid either by cheque or by electronic money transfer (EMT).
Please note that submitting an application does not constitute permission to use or occupy Category I Land, nor does it authorize the establishment of a construction camp. Any unauthorized use or occupation of Category I Land may result in legal action, including an injunction requiring the immediate cessation of all activities. The LHC may also hold the responsible party liable for restoring the Land and repairing any damages caused.

Review and Approval
The LHC reviews the Construction Camp Application Form and, if accepted, allocates a parcel of land for the temporary construction camp. The LHC reserves the right to accept or refuse any application at its sole discretion. The LHC also reserves the right to reject any Category I Land Development Application Form if the Applicant and/or their contractor has outstanding debts related to previous projects or Land occupation.

Signature of a Land Lease
If approved, the LHC allocates a parcel of land for the temporary construction camp. A Construction Camp Land Lease Agreement is then prepared for the rental of the lot. Rent is established as per the LHCs internal guidelines and is payable as soon as the lot is awarded.
Please note that storage of construction materials or equipment is generally not permitted on lots allocated for temporary construction camps. However, under certain conditions, storage may be authorized at an additional cost. In all cases, the lot must remain clean, safe, and well-maintained at all times.
At the end of the lease term, the construction camp as well as all materials, containers, and supplies must be removed, and the parcel must be returned to the LHC in good condition. No temporary construction camp will be authorized to become permanent.
