Sakkuq
Kuujjuaraapik
Sakkuq means "bullet" in Inuktitut and is the landholding corporation for the community of Kuujjuaraapik. Sakkuq Landholding Corporation of Kuujjuaraapik was established in 1979.
Kuujjuaraapik meaning "little great river” in Inuktitut is Nunavik’s southernmost community. It is located on the shores of Hudson Bay at the mouth of the Great Whale River. Kuujjuaraapik is unique in Nunavik as a bicultural community, home to both Inuit and Cree populations. The neighbouring Cree community is known as Whapmagoostui.
