For Those Who Protect the Land In Inuktitut, Nunaliit means “The people who own the land.”

We empower Nunavik’s Landholding Corporations (LHCs) to lead with strength and vision — protecting their territories, fostering sustainable development, and building a prosperous future for generations to come.

Promoters and Contractors

Any project involving the use of the land requires authorization.

Nunavik welcomes development, but there is a fine balance to maintain. Development must be responsible and aligned with the proper management of the territory. For this reason, promoters and contractors must obtain permission from the Landholding Corporations before beginning any project.

Sport Hunting and Fishing

A LHC authorization permit is required for any sport hunting and fishing.

Specific rules and conditions for non-beneficiaries are established by each of the landholding corporations of Nunavik. When applicable, authorization permits can be purchased at the local LHC office.

Our 15 Communities at Heart

A Landholding Corporation is an autonomous, non-profit organization responsible for managing the land it has been entrusted with and reinvesting the benefits into the community.

Beyond land management, many LHCs also own and operate subsidiaries that create local value and employment opportunities — such as hotels, office complexes, construction camps, and restaurants.
